The Prepared Ear

Sound Performance . 2026

The Prepared Ear is a sound performance about listening in times of crisis. Situated between improvised live performance, sound installation, and speculative storytelling, the work transforms objects from a personal emergency kit, tin cans, foil blankets, water containers, and a battery-powered radio, into a temporary sound laboratory.

Through amplification, looping, and improvisation, these everyday survival objects become resonant instruments, generating a fragile and constantly evolving soundscape. Exploring the acoustic aesthetics of survival, The Prepared Ear investigates how sound can function as a strategy of orientation, resilience, and resistance in an uncertain world.

By turning materials associated with preparedness into sonic tools, the performance opens a space between real emergencies and imagined futures, where attentive listening becomes a way of navigating uncertainty and imagining new forms of collective resilience.
