IN HARMONY WITH HOUSEHOLD ITEMS

Sound performance with household items & voice

The duo of Katharina Hamp and Kathrin Lambert has been dealing with the topic of the female role image for some time now, sonically and in an abstract way, creating performative atmospheric audio pieces. Wine glasses, cutlery and other household objects are used by Lambert as an instrument or transformed into one. Played and removed in unusual ways, the resulting sounds are looped and effected. This instrumental basis is accompanied by Hamp’s abstracted recitation of feminist as well as anti-feminist texts and commented on by glossolalia-like speech. Through the vocal production of delicate and soft sounds and chants, Hamp adds another layer and thus expands the sonic spectrum of the performance.
